About the app

MSMshiny app empowers users to construct, compare, and visualize multi-state time-to-event and MSM models effortlessly. A multistate model (MSM) is an extension of traditional survival modeling, enabling the representation of intricate dynamic processes unfolding over time. This innovative tool offers several advantages over manual modeling in mstate or flexsurv. It simplifies the process by allowing users to specify transitions through user-friendly dropdown menus, complete with graphical feedback, rather than laboriously entering transition matrices. The application also automates the often verbose formula generation for model specification based on user selections, offering a range of input options, including choosing between semi-parametric and parametric transition hazard functions, selecting which covariates influence specific transition hazards, specifying identical baseline hazard functions across transitions, and so on.
